Getting dressed up and feeling cute for a winter date night can be such a struggle. From dealing with windy nights to trekking through snow on the ground, the last thing I want to do is pick out a cute outfit only to cover it up with a big winter coat.
I honestly enjoy putting together outfits during the spring and summer months more. It’s just so easy to throw on a dress and some sandals and enjoy the evening without having to worry about the weather. But who said you can’t wear a dress during the winter? And who said it’s impossible to look chic while wearing layers?
If you feel good about your winter wardrobe but you’re struggling to put together some cute looks, you’re in the right spot.
Here, I’m sharing five of my go-to winter date night outfits for this cold and dreary season.
Winter Date Night Outfits
Winter Date Night Outfit #1
You simply can never go wrong with an all black look. Start with a basic, like this black turtleneck, as your base layer and then build off of that.
I recommend mixing and matching textures to create a more interesting look. A faux leather maxi skirt is a great alternative to leather pants—and it will give you a flirty, feminine feel that’s perfect for a date night. And since knee-high boots are a must this season, I would style this outfit with a classic pair of crocodile embossed leather boots.
The finishing touches are what make this look fun. Try accessorizing with a black handbag—if you don’t want to break the bank on a luxury purse, this oversized bag from Anthropologie is a great option!
Last but not least….the jewelry. Throw on some chunky bracelets and other statement pieces that will pop against the all black. This tudor ring and these big hoops would look adorable!
Winter Date Night Outfit #2
For this date night look, let your winter coat be the star of the show. With fun accents like faux fur or faux leather, a statement coat is a must-have in your winter wardrobe. Keep your base layers simple with a black sweater or turtleneck and flared leggings for pants.
To elevate the look, throw on a pair of kitten heels or leather booties. And of course, no look is complete without accessories. Grab some fun earrings and a small purse that matches to finish things off.
This outfit is perfect if you know you might be outside for part of the evening—that way you can keep your coat on and still look great!
Winter Date Night Outfit #3
Just like an all-black outfit is suitable for a date night, so is a streamlined winter white look. You can easily dress it up or dress it down based on the items you select. To keep things casual (even for a date night in), go with a matching sweater set and then stay extra cozy with a long faux fur coat.
Pair this outfit with some cream colored leather booties and then add some fun jewelry to the mix. A beret or puffy crossbody purse would also make good accessories with this look. Try to keep all your items neutral to really achieve that classic winter white vibe.
Winter Date Night Outfit #4
Winter is the perfect time to bring out the bling and have fun with your outfits. Silver and sparkles are great accents to bring into a date night outfit since they have a sexy feel.
Start by pairing a sparkly sweater with a fun fur coat (like I said, mixing materials always makes an outfit more interesting.) Boot cut jeans are definitely in this year so throw on your go-to denim to keep things somewhat casual.
Where you can really have fun and bring in hints of silver is through your shoes and accessories. Maybe you have some shiny slingback heels or a statement bag that would match this look. If you’re in a pinch, just grab some glittery earrings, which will give things a touch of glam!
Winter Date Night Outfit #5
This outfit is super easy to replicate with basics you likely have in your closet already. For your base layers, slip into some black jeans or leather pants, then top things off with a classic white button down (if you don’t have one, steal one from a man in your life….the oversized look is in!) Stay warm and give things a more styled feel by layering with a leather jacket.
For the final touches, spruce up this moto-look with some glitzy jewelry and fun flats. And if you’re feeling extra girlie, you could always throw a bow in your hair. Then, just grab your favorite tote bag and you’ll be ready for whatever your date night has in store for you!
