To The Moon And Back

When your last name is Moon, you can imagine how many times we actually say “love you to the moon and back” and how many things we own that have that saying on it. My jewelry box is overflowing with every kind of Moon necklace, we own all the children’s books with Moon in the title and any I take any chance I have to refer to “the Moon” or “my Moon.” It honestly never gets old. So imagine how excited I am to title this particular blog post. I know, but it’s the little things!

Every year I look forward to our Moon Family Photo Shoots! We have been doing them since Maddie was a baby!
(Thought I’d show you some from our shoots over the years)

Words can’t describe the gratefulness that I feel when I go through all of these pictures! And it took me forever because there are HUNDREDS. I love having all of these memories. I remember everything about the locations, the stress getting to each shoot, picking out the outfits, if someone did or didn’t cooperate, if we were all getting along that day (or just faking it for the cameras…real life people)… I’m thankful for every memory.

I wanted to kick off the holiday season on this blog sharing this shoot with you.  To me the holiday season is about being grateful and for looking for ways to bless others. It’s hard to help kids to understand it’s not about the gifts we get or the experiences we create, but it’s worth it when they start understanding it’s what we can give that really matters! I haven’t quite figured out exactly what we are going to do as a family to give back this season, but even if we don’t find one big thing, we will most certainly be doing little things along the way and throughout the new year to make a difference in this world!

When I look at all of these pictures I’m so grateful that I have been blessed with everything that I need. I know that if I lost every possession I own, I would still have everything I need. When you realize that and let it really sink in, you can’t help but be truly content. I love my little crew (aka my crazies) to the moon and back!

If you’re one of my friends or family members on Facebook, then you know I was obsessed with how our photos came out last year. I probably mentioned it about 500 times and told our Photographer 1 million times. Well, nothing like putting a little added pressure on to this years shoot! MAJOR props to our friend Samantha (Samantha Bradley Photography on Instagram) because not only did she work under pressure, she was set to give birth to her second little girl at any moment! I don’t know how she did it, but she did and she nailed it! I’m super excited to share these pictures with you. There were tons of pictures and I honestly loved every since one, so it took a while to narrow it down (so you wouldn’t be scrolling all day) for this post! Also, including a shop the post tab at the bottom because I know I’ll be getting questions about what we are wearing.
