Miami girls trip

I’ve been lucky enough to visit Florida many times, but one of my favorite things to do is to go on a girls trip to Miami. If I’m being honest, a girls getaway always sounds like a good idea, but I can’t speak highly enough about going on a trip to Miami specifically. It was the perfect destination for the occasion.

Miami has so much going for it: It’s an easy spot to get to if you live on or near the East Coast, the weather is insanely nice, the beaches are stunning, the shopping is great, and there are so many delicious restaurants and bars. It really has something to offer every type of traveler, which makes it a crowd-pleasing city to land on for a girls getaway.

Whether you’re planning a sister’s trip, a bachelorette party, or you simply just want to jet off on a vacation with your favorite gals, this guide will help you plan the perfect Miami girls trip. Safe travels!

Where to Stay in Miami

Miami certainly doesn’t have a shortage of trendy hotels and nice vacation rentals, which is obviously a great thing, but it can also make it tough to choose just one place. I put together this quick list of the best places stay in Miami to help you map out all the details of your trip.

Kimpton Angler’s South Beach

On my latest Miami girls trip, we ended up booking rooms at Kimpton Angler’s South Beach and were totally impressed from the beginning of our stay until the end. The rooms were plenty spacious for a quick getaway and I loved that the decor made things feel extra cozy. I promptly unpacked when I checked in—does anyone else do that?

I’ve actually stayed in other Kimpton hotels before and have always enjoyed my visits. The first location I ever stayed at was in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I also stayed at their Huntington Beach location. It’s one of my favorite hotel chains and I’m already looking forward to the next one I stay at!

Also, as a side note, Kimpton hotels always have the best coffee. This comes highly appreciated in the mornings (or even for an afternoon pick-me-up!) I loved having my cup on my room’s balcony, which overlooked a palm tree-lined street—it doesn’t get much better than that.

1 Hotel South Beach

If you’re researching where to stay in Miami, it’s undeniable that the 1 Hotel South Beach will pop up in the results. This hotel chain has spots across the world, but their Miami location is arguably one of the most iconic. Guests rave about it because of its ideal location, gorgeous rooftop pool, big (and updated) rooms, and of course for the upscale hospitality.

This would be such a fun and comfortable spot to post up at during a girls trip—you honestly wouldn’t need to leave the hotel much!

The Standard

This is another hotel that people swear by for the ultimate Miami experience. It’s known for its luxe spa, complete with plunge pools, saunas, steam rooms, and waterfall hot tubs. If pampering is at the top of your vacation priority list, this would be a good spot to book a room.

In addition to the spa, guests also love the restaurants and bars located within the hotel. Their restaurant, Lido Bayside, offers waterfront views and a cozy, nautical-inspired atmosphere for visitors to enjoy.

Miami Beach Edition

If you can’t imagine visiting Miami without staying at an oceanfront property, consider booking a room at the Edition. Everything about this place is stunning and up-to-date. They clearly take a lot of pride in their property (and its insane location.)

After you’ve hit your limit on lounging on the beach, head to one of the hotel’s two ocean-facing pools and order a cocktail and some appetizers. Feeling up for a little bit of movement? The fitness center is fully stocked with everything you’d need to get a good workout in.

Oh, and did I mention that the hotel rooms offer views of either the city, pools, or ocean? You truly can’t go wrong.

Miami Girls Trip Activities

I feel like this pretty much goes without saying, but a majority of our time on the trip was spent by the pool or at the beach. It’s always so nice to have dedicated days where you just hang out rather than overschedule outings or activities.

We did make a point to go out to dinner each night as well as check out the bar/nightlife scene (I mean it is Miami after all!)

Our hotel also had bikes available, which would be a ton of fun to use if you’re traveling with a group.

Other than going out for dinners and hanging by the pool, we did do quite a bit of shopping. Honestly, I don’t think any girls trip would be complete without some retail therapy, and there are so many fun stores to browse through (even if you’re just window shopping.)

We decided to get drinks before going shopping, which was so much fun but also somewhat dangerous (champagne and Chanel are a wild mix). I found so many cute things and thought it was nice to treat myself a bit!

I would definitely recommend slotting some time to walk around the Miami Design District during your own trip. There are a ton of high-end, luxury stores in the area, as well as restaurants and bars. We did our shopping excursion on a rainy day, which ended up being the perfect activity for the weather we were dealing with.

Where to Eat and Drink in Miami

Strawberry Moon

One of the first places we hit during our trip was Strawberry Moon. Everything from the decor, plants, and cocktails is a total vibe. It was honestly the perfect setting for a girls night out and the menu has something for everyone to love. If you go, definitely order the feta and hummus!

Carbone Miami

While Carbone is certainly a spendier restaurant, I thought that it fully lived up to the hype. It’s a good place to go for a special occasion and I felt like the energy of the restaurant was ideal for a girls group. I loved the spicy rigatoni and would definitely order it again. You also can’t go wrong with the drinks here!

Nikki Beach Miami Beach

Before this trip, I hadn’t been to Nikki Beach in years. It’s the prettiest restaurant and beach club, and I can confirm that it’s still an amazing place to go if you’re looking for a good time. Be sure to ask for Felix—he’s the best server!

Watr at the 1 Rooftop

Located inside the 1 Hotel South Beach (which is stunning in and of itself), this rooftop bar has ocean views, delicious appetizers, and great drinks. They serve Japanese cuisine and have frozen cocktails on their bar menu—ideal for a hot and humid Miami day.

Papi Steak

The nightlife in Miami is unmatched, and this place is proof. We went for dinner and stayed for the party scene. I ordered the latkes for the table and had all my friends take a few bites (they loved them!) I’d also suggest ordering the wagyu pastrami—soooo good.

Seawell Fish N’ Oyster

This spot was attached to Kimpton Angler’s and I liked the overall vibe. It was also so convenient to go to since we were staying at the hotel. I ordered the jerk wings and shrimp cocktail and thought both were tasty. They also had an extensive wine and drink menu, which I appreciated since it was easy to get a nightcap on our way back to our rooms.

Swan Room

Swan is another super pretty restaurant and bar that has cute decor and a feminine vibe. They have really good cocktails and the atmosphere is lively, fun, and tropical—the perfect mix.

Minnow Bar

Sometimes you just can’t beat a hotel bar. Minnow was attached to our hotel, so we stopped by a couple of times and had a nightcap. I always enjoyed the drinks and thought it had a low-key yet fun ambiance. They also had indoor and outdoor seating options, which I thought was nice.

Makoto

If you’re in the mood for Japanese food, head to Makoto, which not only has amazing bites but also has such a bright and fun ambiance. They are known to serve some of the best sushi in town, as well as bigger entrees, like sea bass, wagyu filets, and ribeye.

The Surf Club Restaurant

Looking for the ultimate high-end Miami experience? Check out The Surf Club Restaurant, which showcases all the glitz and glamour of this seaside city. Just walking through the restaurant is an experience in and of itself, but add some stiff martinis and oysters to the mix and you’ll be swooning over this place.

Fiore Caffe Miami

When it comes to breakfast food, Miami certainly does it right. Fiore Caffe is one of the most popular spots in the city, and for good reason (scroll through their Instagram and you’ll be drooling over their dishes.) From fluffy pancakes and strong cappuccinos to acai bowls and loaded bagel sandwiches, this place is sure to satisfy any type of craving.

That’s it! I hope this Miami girls trip travel guide helps you plan out your own getaway. Let me know if you have any questions in the comment section below.
