Rompers are one of the most versatile pieces of clothing that you can add to your closet. It’s easy to limit rompers to the throw-on outfit, but I’ve found so many different looks through playing with the styling of my favorite rompers.
Wearing a romper makes getting dressed in the morning so much easier because you only have one piece of clothing to think about. You can also add as many, or as few, layers to a romper as you need (which is great for when the weather cools down or heats up). Plus, you can spruce up a romper outfit with accessories like a belt, hat, and of course jewelry.
Another perk is that you can wear pretty much any type of shoe with a romper, so it’s simple to dress the look up or down.
Here, I’m sharing exactly how to style a romper, as well as giving you tips for wearing a romper in any season. I hope that these ideas inspire you to test out some new romper outfits, or to add some to your closet as each season approaches.
How to Style a Romper
Outfit #1: A Romper With Heels
I found this simple black romper on Amazon and it actually is the perfect dupe for a much more expensive Free People romper. I would honestly want to wear this outfit during the spring, summer, and fall because it’s so comfortable. It also has pockets, which I always love.
This romper would be particularly easy to dress up for a special occasion, but it could also go with a pair of sandals or sneakers for an everyday look. Just throw a jacket or oversized cardigan over the top to transition it to be nighttime appropriate.
Outfit #2: A Romper With a Blazer
I’m a big fan of wearing blazers because they give an outfit such an elevated look. Plus, they’re practical for so many occasions.
As far the romper goes, this one looks so much like a flowy dress. I love that this makes the outfit look feminine and well-balanced with the blazer. It comes in a bunch of colors, but I love this wine hue for an easy-to-style, classic color.
If blazers aren’t your thing, you could also throw on a sweater, cardigan, or leather jacket for some warmth if you need it–all options look equally as cute.
I’m wearing some sandals similar these in the picture above, and I’m happy to report that they are surprisingly comfortable (and they’re currently on sale!)
Outfit #3: A Romper With Boots and a Belt
This romper is an oldie but a goodie! I shared it several months back when I did a Red Dress Boutique haul, but I’ve also linked a look for less from Amazon for you!
Linen rompers are my absolute favorite thing to wear in the summer because the fabric is lightweight and breathable. If you live somewhere that sees hot and humid temperatures, this is the perfect outfit for you to style through the fall (especially for my Florida and Texas girls!)
I love that linen rompers fit comfortably and loose while still making you feel pulled together. I styled mine with a cardigan and boots, then added a belt to give it a more fitted look. Just a simple denim jacket thrown over this romper would be perfect too. This is my favorite denim jacket (and yes, of course it’s got a little bling).
Outfit #4: A Romper With Booties and a Hat
Another way I love to style rompers is with booties. They’re the best type of shoe to slip on to elevate any look, and it just so happens that they look cute with rompers too.
I love this hat to keep the sun off of your face and I think it pairs perfectly with the colors in the jacket and romper. I’d wear this to meet friends for lunch, go to dinner with my husband, or to happy hour.
Outfit #5: A Romper With Sneakers
This look proves that you can wear a romper for casual occasions too. For an everyday look, pair a neutral romper with some comfy sneakers, a trucker hat, a belt bag, and a leather jacket. This is the ideal outfit to wear on busy days while you’re shuttling kids around or running errands.
Don’t forget to add jewelry! Gold jewels make the perfect year-round accessory. I recently refreshed my jewelry wardrobe with some new pieces from Julie Vos. Her pieces are my go to when I want an elevated statement! I love these bangles, this unique pendant necklace, and these classic hoop earrings.
Outfit #6: A Monochromatic Romper and Blazer
This monochromatic look is super elegant, while still giving you all the comfort you’re looking for in your favorite romper outfit. I love how the neutral color of the blazer pairs perfectly with the understated print in the romper—creating a streamlined and classy look.
Adding some fun heeled sandals to dress up this outfit is a great way to elevate it even further, and of course, layering jewelry can take things up another notch.
